Skin conditions are among the most common reasons Australians seek primary care, yet the role of community pharmacy in dermatological care remains underutilised. The SkinSmart Consult Program proposes a structured, pharmacist-led service that transforms informal skincare advice into comprehensive, evidence-based care. Designed to address both clinical and cosmetic skin concerns, the program includes detailed assessments, digital imaging, patient education, and follow-up consultations. It responds to the growing demand for credible skincare guidance in an era dominated by social media misinformation and self-diagnosis. By formalising dermatological consultations, SkinSmart empowers pharmacists to deliver consistent, measurable care aligned with national health priorities and professional standards. The program also offers a sustainable business model, supporting service diversification and reinforcing pharmacy’s role in preventive health. SkinSmart represents a forward-thinking approach to pharmacy practice, bridging the gap between accessibility and quality in skin health management.
